Artists Compute Festival
We are naturally excitable Coventrians. Our role as self-entitled, megaphone bearers for this city is designed to reflect our passion for all things sky blue. So, when we received news of the forthcoming #AristsCompute2016 Festival our blood pressure looked skywards and raced for Mount Godiva.
From 9th September across multiple venues including City Arcadia Gallery, Cov Fab Lab and Shop Front Theatre, the festival will pay homage to computers and be dedicated to mapping, presenting, probing and escalating their impact.
Ryan Hughes, the brains behind #AristsCompute2016 Festival and lead artists at the Office for Art, Design and Technology talked to us about two extremely exciting announcements he wanted to make.
Coventry’s first Bring Your Own Beamer participatory exhibition
“This worldwide phenomenon, originally conceived by New York based artist Rafael Rozendaal is an opportunity for artists to bring along their silent video or animation works, and a projector and to be included in a group exhibition for one night only. These artworks will be accompanied by a series of DJ Sets.”
Bring Your Own Beamer will take place from 19:00 – Midnight on the 9th September at City Arcadia Gallery, FREE entry.
8 Bit Lounge Cov, the most awesomely nerdy night out in the whole of the West Midlands
“Usually found at Birmingham’s Hare and Hounds, will make it’s way to Coventry to party like only they know how. Featuring multiplayer computer games on retro consoles and chiptune music by various performers and DJ’s, this event produced by Tony Grainger and Leon Trimble, is not to be missed!”
8 Bit Lounge Cov will take place from 18:00 – Midnight on the 10th September at Shop Front Theatre. £2.00 on the door, cash bar.
